The SkyWize Experience

Learn. Grow. Excel. The SkyWize Approach to Pilot Training

Learn From Experienced Professionals

Learn from aviation professionals, including instructors and examiners, with extensive industry experience who understand the standards expected of commercial pilots. Their practical insights complement classroom learning and help bridge the gap between theory and real-world aviation.

Understanding Before Memorising

We focus on building strong conceptual foundations rather than simply preparing students to answer examination questions. When concepts are understood, examinations become easier and knowledge stays with you throughout your aviation career.

Every Student Matters

We deliberately keep our batches small so that every student receives individual attention and timely academic support. Questions are encouraged, progress is monitored and no student is left behind.

Your Aviation Journey Doesn't End Here

Our support extends beyond your classes through career mentoring, flying school guidance and airline interview preparation. We remain invested in your progress as you move towards becoming a successful commercial pilot.

What Does A Pilot's Career Path Actually Look Like?

From your first day in the cockpit to the Captain's seat — here's the real journey after training

01

Trainee / Junior First Officer

Right after your CPL from DGCA, you join an airline as a TFO — a 6-month trainee stage with a stipend. Your first real experience inside a commercial cockpit. You then become a JFO to continue building your flying hours and also start drawing a handsome salary.

02

First Officer (Co-Pilot)

After JFO training, you are 'Line Released ' and become a fully qualified co-pilot on large passenger aircraft — flying routes, assisting the Captain and building your flying hours further. Salary increases significantly here.

03

Obtain ATPL From DGCA

After 1,500 hours of flying (usually 2–3 years), you can apply for ATPL from DGCA. This is the license that makes you eligible to become a Captain.

04

Captain (Pilot-in-Command)

You're now in command of the aircraft, the crew, and the passengers. Highest responsibility, highest pay — the goal every pilot works toward.

NEED CLARITY?

Frequently Asked Questions

I am from a Commerce / Arts background. Can I still join an aviation course at SkyWize?
Yes, absolutely. You do not need Science to join most aviation courses at SkyWize. Programs like Airline Interview Preparation and Drone Pilot Licensing are open to students from any stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts.
My child just passed Class 12. Is this the right time to join SkyWize?
Yes, right after Class 12 is actually a good time to start. Aviation careers have an age factor, especially for pilots. The earlier you begin your DGCA ground training, the faster you complete your exams and get into a flying school.
What is the DGCA exam and how hard is it to clear?
DGCA stands for Directorate General of Civil Aviation — India's official aviation authority. To become a licensed pilot in India, you must pass DGCA theory exams in subjects like Air Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulations, Technical General, and RTR (Radio Telephony). With SkyWize's focused coaching, most students clear these in their first attempt.
Are there age limits for becoming a pilot in India?
Yes. For a CPL (Commercial Pilot License), you must be at least 17 years old to get a Student Pilot License, and at least 18 years old to obtain a CPL. Most airlines have an upper age limit of around 36–40 years for fresh pilot recruitment, though this varies.
What is a Drone Pilot License and why should my child consider it?
A Drone Pilot License is an official DGCA certification that allows you to fly commercial drones legally in India. Drones are the fastest-growing area in aviation, opening doors in defense, agriculture, filmmaking, and logistics.
Is aviation a good career for girls? Are there enough opportunities?
Aviation is one of the strong career choices for girls in India right now. Indian airlines are actively working to increase the number of female pilots, so there are plenty of opportunities for women in the industry.
Can I become a pilot if I wear glasses or have weak eyesight?
This depends on the degree of your vision problem. Mild refractive errors — nearsightedness or farsightedness within a certain range — are acceptable for a pilot license, provided the vision is fully correctable with glasses or contact lenses.
